Jack Surash
Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Energy & Sustainability
Department of Energy

As an organization with 156 installations and more than 1,100 community-based Army National Guard and Army Reserve Centers worldwide, the Army operates a large and complex portfolio or energy needs. Because of this, the Army designs its policies to increase energy security and support readiness on both its fixed sites and in the operational space. These policies provide the framework for Army energy programs and practices, such as utilities privatization, third-party financing, and large-scale generation. This briefing will review how Army policies and programs, combined with solider and civilian engagement, have improved energy resilience and enhanced readiness for the Army.
