Cost Optimum of Nearly(Net) Zero-energy Buildings

Based on DIRECTIVE 2010/31/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 19 May 2010 on the energy performance of buildings („EPBD Recast”)and the method of cost-optimized calculations, Member States shall ensure that by 31 December 2020, all new buildings are nearly zero-energy buildings. Nearly zero buildings have a very high energy performance and the low amount of energy required should be covered to a very significant extent by energy from renewable sources and should also harmonize with cost-effective regulations. The well-known intentions of the European Union Member States and some research reports give the impression that the overwhelming use of biomass in the near future is the most appropriate way to meet the above requirements of nearly zero-energy buildings.
