Melanie Taylor
Vice President, Lighting Design

With more than 25 years working as a professional architectural lighting designer, Ms. Taylor is the head of the lighting design studio for WSP Buildings in the United States. Melanie’s work includes large-scale transportation projects, commercial campuses, complex healthcare institutions, high-end hospitality, dynamic civic locations and lighting for urban neighborhoods.Melanie teaches for the Lighting Design Graduate program at the New York School of Interior Design and is a steering committee member and judge for the Next Generation Luminaire System Competition. Melanie is one of the first 40 lighting designer’s to gain Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) Certification globally.

Melanie believes that integrated lighting is the key to revealing client aspirations and content-rich architecture, and that lighting design solutions have poetic, experiential, and inspirational components. She focuses on developing sustainable, high performance, and easily-maintainable lighting designs. Working closing with the design team, she brings a strong lighting-based point of view based upon collaboration and innovation, to deliver a truly unique design for each client.
