Mr. Helm entered the Building Automation and DDC industry in its formative years (1984) working as a Project Engineer for a controls division startup of a large construction company performing design, programming, and commissioning of building control systems in the healthcare, commercial office, industrial, education, and telecommunications markets.In 1989, Mr. Helm created the division’s service department, and over the next 4 years grew it to become a major component of the division’s annual business.From 1994 through 1999, Mr. Helm managed Engineering and Construction Operations for the division, overseeing project management, engineering design, programming, GUI, 3rd party integration, installation, and commissioning. From 2000 through early 2006, Mr. Helm was the Vice President and General Manager, managing the overall division to provide turnkey systems and service for HVAC controls, access control, CCTV, lighting control, and fire alarm.Over the course of his 22 years, Mr. Helm experienced the BAS industry from the point of view of a startup to eventually one of the largest independent systems integrators in the mid-Atlantic region.

In the spring of 2006, Mr. Helm started Radius Systems LLC, a company dedicated to Integrated Facility Automation, with emphasis on Energy Efficiency.Within 3 months of starting Radius Systems, the company became an authorized dealer for Automated Logic HVAC and Lighting controls.Over the years, Radius has added the Tridium, Lynxspring, Intesis, and the S4 integration platforms, along with Security (Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection) to the overall offerings.Over 12+ years the company has grown at an annual average growth rate of 70% based on leveraging expertise in HVAC and lighting control, energy management, third party integration, managed smoke systems, fume hood controls, FDA validated systems, and security.The company is rapidly growing into one of the largest and best regarded Systems Integrators in the mid-Atlantic Region, and was awarded the Automated Logic Dealer of the Year award in 2017.

Mr. Helm holds a BSME from Drexel University, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (mechanical) in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.Additionally, Mr. Helm is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Energy Auditor, and Certified Building Commissioning Professional.
