Jan Hoetzel has lived most of his work life in the United States. Born and raised in Germany at the north tip of the Black Forrest, Jan trained as a tool and die maker at Siemens AG following his formal education. He is an engineering business administration graduate "Diplom Wirtschaftsingenieur (FH)" from the University of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe.

Jan's vision is to provide a bridge between Europe's advance development in energy efficiency for compressed air systems to the North American Market. Jan had a 15-year corporate career throughout Chicago, Berlin, Lisbon, Greenville-Spartanburg, and Grand Rapids. In 2007 he started Airleader North America.

Airleader's philosophy builds on the slogan "YOU CANNOT MANAGE - WHAT YOU DO NOT MEASURE".

Airleader's focus is on energy efficient compressor controls with efforts to pair compressed air monitoring with education. The goal is to work towards maximum efficiency which results in more responsible use of resources, higher product quality, and ultimately increases the clients bottom lone. In an effort to increase the the education of industrial air users, Jan serves on the board of directors for Compressed Air Challenge.

Airleader is a Compressed Air Service provider for several utilities in the Midwest.

Notable achievements include:

  1. First place winner of the Energy Efficiency Award Challenge in 2016.
  2. Airleader completed an energy efficiency project with ComEd in Chicago. The project was cash positive in 6 months. The customer received $177,000 in incentives from ComEd and the net present value of the project was in excess of $2 million.
  3. Recent project with an Automotive manufacturer paid for upfront through utility incentives delivers 31% savings annually and had a payback of 5 month without incentives.
