While more than 25,000 cases of Legionnaires Disease occur each year in the US, recent outbreaks in New York City have prompted new regulations that apply to all cooling towers and health care-related domestic water systems across New York State.This presentation will provide a basic understanding of Legionnaires Disease and several well publicized outbreaks.It also reviews several strategies for managing cooling towers to prevent the spread of Legionella.ASHRAE 188-2015 requirements will be discussed.The presentation reviews Health Department regulations related to Legionella control in cooling towers.
