NCSU $61 Million Cogen Plant: Take Two by Erik Hall, NCSU

Erik is the Director of Energy Management for North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.He is responsible for all aspects of energy management across the university.Erik and his staff focus on 6 major areas: energy procurement, energy data and analysis, energy use in facilities, energy efficiency, campus energy integration and water conservation for NC State.

Erik has a mechanical engineering degree and MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology, served as a navy nuclear submarine officer for 12 years and has worked with NC State since 2009.He was the central utility plant manager during the design, construction, commissioning and initial operation of the Cates co-generation facility and is now responsible for the measurement and verification (M&V) of the $61 million energy performance contract.In addition, Erik and his staff are designing the M&V program for NC State’s second co-generation plant which is a $17 million self-perform energy performance contract.
