Utility bills seem so simple, so pedestrian, that highly educated professionals are tempted to view them as being of little consequence. It is vital that energy professionals be able to assess quickly building performance without having to resort to detailed analysis. Through the use of utility bill analysis techniques, energy professionals can make accurate generalizations of building performance that routinely will shock building personnel. “How can he/she know so much and he/she hasn’t even seen the building?” This session will introduce two powerful concepts, weather normalization and load factor analysis, which should be practiced by all energy professionals, but sadly is not.
