Seminars Held in Conjunction with WEEC 2011

In addition to the three-day conference program, a full line-up of seminars has been scheduled to take place in Chicago in conjunction with the 2011 World Energy Engineering Congress.

Note: AEE is now an approved provider of training courses for USGBC-GBCI's Credential Maintenance Program and for AIA Continuing Education Systems. Professionals may qualify for Continuing Education Units (CEU's) to maintain their Certification status.

Full Day Workshops

The following full-day workshops will be held in conjunction with the World Energy Engineering Congress. Please click the appropriate link below for more information on each workshop.

  • Skills Update 2011 for Certified Energy Managers
    Monday and Tuesday, October 10-11, 2011 / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
    This seminar is intended either for professionals who already have the CEM credential or for those individuals whose CEM certification has lapsed and who are seeking to have their credentials reinstated. This presentation has been designed as a follow-up for the Comprehensive 5-Day Training Program for Energy Managers seminar offered by AEE, and is presented by the same instructors. The Skills Update course addresses several advanced topics, going beyond what was covered in the 5-day course, or that are new since the materials for the original seminar were developed. By completing this 2-day course, you will earn 1.6 CEU, which is equal to 3.2 credits toward CEM recertification. (A total of 8 credits must be accumulated over a three-year period to maintain CEM certification.)

  • Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems
    Tuesday, October 11, 2011 / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
    This is a one-day introductory course designed to teach facility engineers, operators and maintenance staff how to achieve 15-25% cost savings through more effective production and use of compressed air. Registration fee per attendee: $375. Click here for full details.


  • Using Smart Metering to Cut Energy Costs
    Tuesday, October 11, 2011 / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
    This seminar covers the basics of ‘smart’ metering, including its use in demand response and other cost-cutting utility programs, and ways it can be used to cut costs even without such programs. When and how to deploy such metering at facilities will be examined, as well as the costs, paybacks, and specification of customer-owned interval metering. To demonstrate how to analyze interval meter data (both statistically and visually), many real-life examples will be provided. Participants receive and use several advanced Excel-based tools (not available elsewhere) for configuring, visualizing, and analyzing data from smart meters. Registration fee per attendee: $480.   • The Green Data Center: Information Technology Equipment and Power/Cooling Support Systems
    Tuesday, October 11, 2011 / 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
    This workshop is designed for energy managers, Information Technology (IT) managers, consultants, systems integrators, and plant, facility, and operation managers.If you plan to design or revamp your existing Data Center (DC) into a green DC or target this last high user of energy with state-of-the-art energy management technologies, this workshop is for you. Free Poster Sessions in the Exhibit Hall


Complementing the WEEC conference, exposition, and related events, poster sessions will provide an opportunity for authors, session presenters, conference attendees, and exhibit hall visitors to interact, and give and receive ideas on a one-on-one informal basis in a special area of the WEEC exhibit hall.
